A real, line-by-line wedding budget — what venues, catering, florals, photography and planning cost today, where couples overspend, and how all-inclusive pricing compares to booking piece by piece.
The short version
For a 100-guest wedding, most couples we work with land between $38,000 and $62,000 all in. Venue and food are roughly 55% of that number, and almost every overspend story starts with a venue booked before the rest of the budget existed.
Booking piece by piece gives you the most control. An all-inclusive package gives you the most certainty. Neither is automatically cheaper — the difference is who absorbs the surprises.
Line by line, for 100 guests
Venue rental — $4,000 to $14,000. Peak Saturdays in high season sit at the top of that range; Fridays and Sundays routinely save 20 to 30%.
Catering and staffing — $95 to $185 per guest, plated or stations. Service charge is usually 20 to 24% on top, and it is taxable in most states.
Bar — $28 to $65 per guest depending on beer-and-wine versus full premium.
Photography — $4,500 to $9,000 for eight to ten hours with a second shooter. Video adds $2,400 to $6,000.
Florals and decor — $4,000 to $15,000. Installations, not bouquets, are what move this number.
Music — $1,200 to $2,500 for a DJ, $4,500 to $12,000 for a band.
Rentals, linens and lighting — $2,500 to $8,000, often invisible in early budgets.
Planning and coordination — $1,800 for day-of coordination up to $6,500+ for full planning.
Stationery, cake, attire, hair and makeup, transportation and gratuities — $6,000 to $12,000 combined.
Where couples overspend
Guest count. Every added guest multiplies across catering, bar, rentals, stationery and favors — roughly $180 to $260 each. Cutting 15 guests is usually less painful than cutting a whole category.
Service charge and tax. A $16,000 catering quote is often $20,500 by the time it is invoiced. Ask for the all-in number in writing before you sign.
Last-minute rentals. Anything booked inside 30 days carries a rush premium. A real timeline is a budget tool.
All-inclusive versus building it yourself
All-inclusive pricing bundles venue, catering, bar, florals, rentals and coordination into one package — starting at $9,995 for The Essential, $13,995 for The Elevated and $18,995 for The Signature — with the final number depending on guest count, location and season. It is the right call for couples who want a fixed, knowable number.
Building it yourself can beat that number if you are willing to negotiate eight contracts and manage them. If you go that route, at least hire coordination so nobody is chasing vendors on the wedding morning.
